Defensive phenom Capt. Cory Byrum for Orange and the sharp shooting Capt. Jeff Fleishaker for White were among the absentees. Orange started out with just one sub and was concerned about fatigue being a factor. In order to try and conserve energy they went deep on the first position and converted for a quick score. Orange continued to play strong in the early goings with a balanced attack of deep hucks when the time was right and short easy passes when White shut down the deeps. The play of Kira on White was tremendous throughout the first half. Orange tried different match ups but could not find any solution as she seemed to do no wrong making one incredible catch after another despite defenders on her heels. Orange took a small lead at the end of half and went into the locker room up 9-6. Capt. Scott Wiant of Orange was able to inspire his tired team during the break as they ran off 5 straight goals and opened up a 14 – 6 lead. With sharp dump and swings and then working the disk up the break side mixed with well-timed deep cuts, the O-Face offence looked much stronger than it did in week one. White’s Loring tried to inspire a come back with some hard nosed defensive plays in the second half but some close foul calls seemed to prevent White from gaining momentum. All of White played hard every point and tried to disrupt the O-Face offence with some zone but Orange stayed tough and closed it out with a 17 – 8 victory. It should be noted that the hard-nosed play of both teams led to some collisions as White took the brunt of them and was forced to sideline key players throughout the game.
