This hard-fought battle between two evenly-matched teams came down to =
the wire. The game was as long as it was sloppy. Both teams played =
hard, tight defense, and as a result, both offenses failed to click on =
all cylinders. White started the game by eating bananas on the line, =
which clearly struck fear deep into the hearts of the banana team as =
White raced to a 5-1 advantage. Slowly, but surely, however, the Banana =
team regained its composure and fired back to tie the game at 6, before =
slumping to fall behind 9-6 at half. The White team's intimidation =
tactics for the second half involved a cheer about yellow snow, but it =
only served to fire up the Banana squad. The 3-point halftime deficit =
was quickly erased and the game was tied at 11. From that point, no =
team built a lead larger than 1. Back and forth play went, with great =
defensive plays turning points into marathons, and slowly chasing away =
that powerful 65 degree summer sun. At 15-15, White marched down the =
field and scored to take the slim 1 point lead, but Banana responded =
with another fantastic endzone catch, off a deflection no less, by Greg =
Guffanti to tie the score yet again. The final point of the game was =
played in near darkness. Several turnovers kept the game alive for both =
teams, before the White team finally punched in the winning goal on yet =
another grab by Karen "The Scoring Machine" Bernhardt. A tremendous =
game and a fun time for all.
